FAQs

"NPS provides a platform for corporations to co-contribute for its subscribers or facilitate them to
contribute for their pension. There are three variations of contributions from employer and
employee:
-Equal contributions by employer and employee
-Unequal contribution by the employer and the employee
-Contribution from either the employer or the employee"

There is no requirement for a minimum number of employees for adopting NPS.

Total contribution (employer and/or employee) in Tier I for a financial year should be Rs. 1000

There are three scenarios for NPS exit

-Minimum 40% of NPS to be annuitized
-Maximum 60% to be paid as lump sum to subscriber
– If the corpus is less than 5 lakhs then full withdrawal is permitted.

-Allowed after 5 years of NPS account opening
-Minimum 80% of NPS should be annuitized
-Maximum 20% is paid as a lump sum to subscriber free
-If the corpus is less than 2.5 lakh then full withdrawal is permitted.

-100 percent of the NPS amount should be paid to the nominee or legal heir
– The nominee can choose annuity as well.
